Concrete Foreman

Location: Fort Mill, SC

Summary
At the superintendent's direction, lead and direct employees in meeting daily established goals on various job sites.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Lead and direct people, equipment, and resources in the construction of projects.
  • Ensure sufficient deployment and productivity of work crews.
  • Communicate openly with the superintendent and report any project plan issues.
  • Work as a team member and leader to successfully pour, level, and finish concrete.
  • Setup and use of laser level to ensure proper installation of components.
  • Organize and coordinate the daily activities of all crew members, subcontractors, and equipment and utilize corrective action to keep the project on time and within budget.
  • Identify and execute best practices concerning the efficient use of construction materials.
  • Plan work in an efficient and practical order, maximizing progress in a safe and timely manner.
  • Attend weekly job site foreman’s meetings and be able to communicate the work plan with clients and other subcontractors.
  • Lead or direct daily safety huddles and stretch/flex programs.
  • Review and adhere to construction schedules, ensuring milestones and completion dates are met.
  • Ensure company equipment is lawfully operated, cared for, maintained, and used effectively.
  • Read and interpret project plans and specifications.
  • Promote, execute, and adhere to the company’s safety program and encourage all employees, subcontractors, and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.
  • Plan ahead and notify the Superintendent of any materials/tools/equipment required to ensure the project stays on schedule and crews are productive.
  • Conduct daily and weekly safety meetings and inspections.
  • Review safe work plans/hazard assessments with the crew before job commencement.
  • Work with the Safety Department to investigate damage, incidents, or near misses at the worksite and ensure proper procedures follow the Company’s Safety Program.
  • Work safely and responsibly so as not to injure oneself intentionally or unintentionally or endanger the well-being of others.
  • Ensure all new hires receive their required orientation and attend company-designated training.
  • Monitor and manage employee attendance, ensuring the timely arrival and participation of all crew members and notifying employees of rain days before the start of the work.
  • Delegate tasks and accountabilities, instruct, supervise, lead, and direct base crew.
  • Act as the first point of contact between the company and employees on various employee-related matters.
  • Comply with relevant legislation regarding employee management, terminations, and resignations.
  • Act as the first point of contact between the Human Resources department on employee-related issues, including employee development, benefits, training, terminations, and investigations.
  • Ensure consistent and fair application of the progressive disciplinary policy.
  • Continually develop yourself and your team through ongoing training, education, etc.

Required Experience, Education, and Qualifications

  • Four plus (4+) years of concrete construction field experience, including at least two years of Symons handset wall experience.
  • One (1) year of concrete finishing experience is required for a flatwork foreman. Valid driver's license
  • Ability to lift 80lbs
  • Work in a variable environment, including, but not limited to, high/low temperatures, areas close to traffic, loud and frequent noises, confined spaces, heights, and indoor/outdoor settings.
  • This position often requires climbing, kneeling, bending, and crawling and the ability to work on ladders, platforms, and mechanical lifts.
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check related to driving (for any driver)
  • Ability to pass a drug screening

Position type and expected hours of work
This full-time field position requires travel to local job locations in and around North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. Typical hours will range from 45-50 hours per week and are subject to change. This role requires working nontypical days and irregular hours based on construction schedules. Due to the critical nature of the role, accepting phone calls even during nontypical workdays and hours is also necessary.

Travel
This position reports directly to each job site and requires personal transportation.
