Business Development Manager

Location: Pflugerville, TX

Summary
The business development manager leverages deep industry expertise to cultivate bidding opportunities with new and existing customers for the assigned division(s) or territory. This outside sales role requires close collaboration with division management, chief estimator, and estimators to identify, prioritize, and capture projects. The business development manager owns the entire pursuit process, aligning technical expertise with client needs and strategic objectives, optimizing resources, and supporting the division in achieving its sales goals and contributing to Kent’s overall success.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the division manager, chief estimator, and preconstruction manager to set bid volume and sales targets.
  • Aggressively market Kent Concrete’s capabilities to new and existing customer segments.
  • Develop and prioritize customer lists in collaboration with the division manager and chief estimator.
  • Develop strategies to expand Kent Concrete’s footprint with current and new customers.
  • Represent Kent Concrete at industry events and lead participation in formal and informal networking opportunities.
  • Collects and communicates specific and timely feedback from customers on projects.
  • Drive ambitious weekly, monthly, and quarterly goals focused on customer engagement, bid invitations, and client outreach.
  • Capture market and competitor information to enhance proposals or differentiate Kent Concrete
  • Collaborate with Marketing to develop and implement campaigns and resources that enhance Kent
  • Concrete’s market position and customer conversion.

Required Experience, Education, and Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and specifications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and costs.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must have reliable transportation to the workplace(s)/ job location(s).
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check related to driving
  • Ability to pass drug screening.
  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and in the future.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development in concrete construction and/or multi-family construction
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or construction science
  • Experience working in construction for a self-performing general contractor or concrete contractor.

Work Environment/Physical Demand
This position works in an office environment, occasionally traveling to the field to supervise projects as required. This position requires long periods of sitting.

Position type and expected hours of work
This is a full-time, office/hybrid position. Typical hours will range from 45 to 50 per week and are subject to change. Due to the critical nature of the role, accepting phone calls even during nontypical workdays and hours is also necessary.

Travel
This position requires extensive travel and event participation outside of traditional business hours.
