Talent Acquisition Manager

Location: Grand Rapids, MI

Summary
The Talent Acquisition Manager is responsible for shepherding the talent acquisition process by building exceptional internal and external relationships to find and fill openings with high-quality talent and representing the Company at industry networking and recruiting events. This position collaborates with hiring managers, candidates, and other teams within the organization to ensure a seamless recruitment experience, contributing to the overall success of the organization's talent acquisition efforts. This fast-paced, consultative role requires tenacious curiosity, a high attention to detail, and a relentless work ethic.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage the talent acquisition life cycle in a consultative manner, ensuring an optimal candidate and hiring manager experience, including:
    • Collaborate with hiring managers to understand their staffing needs and job requirements.
    • Craft and update job descriptions.
    • Utilize various proactive recruiting strategies to search, identify, and source suitable candidates.
    • Assess candidate information, including resumes and contact details, using our applicant tracking system (ATS), then filter and screen candidates.
    • Manage candidate data and maintain accurate records in the ATS.
    • Reviewing and screening resumes and applications to identify qualified candidates.
    • Communicate effectively with candidates throughout recruitment, providing timely updates and feedback.
    • Scheduling interviews, coordinating, gathering, and providing feedback to prepare for the start date.
    • Work with stakeholders to develop the onboarding plan and intermediary throughout integration.
    • Support the onboarding process by ensuring the completion of all necessary onboarding tasks and that new hires have a smooth transition.
  • Represent the Company at industry networking and recruiting events and set the expectation for industry, conference, and campus networking.
  • Establish self as an internal system super-user; work with high volumes of data and maintain data quality and talent pipelines.
  • Generate reports, analyze data, and identify opportunities to increase functionality and improve efficiency.
  • Solve problems and produce solutions by offering suggestions, new ideas, or alternatives to improve or modify work processes; respond to urgent needs for information and analyses within expected timeframes.
  • Communicate, providing regular status updates with business leaders, candidates, and hiring managers.
  • Adhere to the highest degree of integrity and strict confidentiality on matters that require discretion.

Required Experience, Education, and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, business, or other; and proven work experience in Talent Acquisition or related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • Two plus (2+) years of commercial construction experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams, etc.)
  • Experience using professional social networks (LinkedIn, in particular)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with confirmed ability to take the initiative and build strong positive relationships internally and externally.
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
  • Desire to work in a rapidly changing, demanding, and ambiguous growth work environment.
  • Innate ability to solve problems quickly with little information and with thorough due diligence of available data.
  • High attention to detail, ambition, and desire to pursue responsibilities beyond the job, such as providing additional analyses or implications beyond an initial request.
  • Great teammate with a strong work ethic, a high sense of urgency, and motivation to see the overall team succeed.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must have reliable transportation to the workplace(s)/ job location(s).
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check related to driving
  • Ability to pass drug screening.
  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and in the future.

Preferred Experience, Education, and Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Applicant Tracking Systems, CRM, and/or resume databases
  • Basic knowledge of labor legislation
  • Familiarity with skilled trades or construction
  • Knowledge of HR practices, employment laws, and recruitment best practices

Work Environment/Physical Demand
This position works in an office environment requiring long periods of sitting.

Position type, travel, and expected hours of work
This is a full-time office position. (Example: The position does not travel often. Or This position requires travel in Central Texas with minimal overnight travel.) Typical hours will range from 45-50 hours per week and are subject to change. This role requires the ability to work nontypical days and irregular hours based on construction schedules. Due to the critical nature of the role, accepting phone calls even during nontypical workdays and hours is also necessary.
