Business Applications Manager

Summary
The business applications manager oversees application solutions' implementation, management, and optimization. This role requires a blend of construction industry experience and technical expertise to ensure that business applications are effectively integrated into the construction process. The ideal candidate will drive adoption, improve project efficiency, enhance safety, and leverage technology investments to meet the company's strategic goals.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Establish the Global Plan & Timetable for Implementation
    • Together with senior management, develop an overall plan for business application use and integration for the company
    • Develop a master timetable for integrating business applications and the training to support those business applications
  • Application Implementation & Integration: Implementing and managing applications that improve construction processes.
    • Assist with the RFQ/RFP processes, including evaluation, selection, implementation, and tracking of the actual effectiveness of future applications and their return on investment.
    • Ensure seamless integration of new applications with existing systems and processes.
  • Project Management: Collaborating with stakeholders to ensure applications align with project goals and requirements.
    • Collaborate with leadership, divisions, and project teams to plan and execute application initiatives.
    • Facilitates business process re-engineering and change management to standardize and optimize business processes and systems.
    • Works with stakeholders to elicit, analyze, define, document, and manage requirements.
    • Monitor project progress and ensure applications are used effectively to meet project goals.
  • Training and Support: Providing training and ongoing support to construction teams on applications and systems to ensure they are used effectively.
    • Develops, delivers, and maintains training for business users to optimize processes and systems, including user guides, training materials, and best practices documentation.
    • Assist Kent Companies’ Divisions with adopting various business applications.
    • Provide new employees training on operational/construction project management software (Autodesk Build, ProEst, and BC Pro).
    • Provide ongoing training for all employees using said business applications.
    • Provide general system administration and process support for business applications.
    • Maintain a documentation library of training, best practices, and FAQs for the business applications.
  • Vendor Management: Work with technology vendors and suppliers to implement, support, and maintain construction-related applications.
    • Manage relationships with technology vendors and service providers.
    • Works with purchasing to negotiate contracts, manage software licenses, and ensure the timely delivery of technology solutions.
  • Innovation and Research: Staying updated on emerging technologies and trends in the construction industry and evaluating how these can be applied to improve efficiency, safety, and quality.
    • Lead pilot programs to test and evaluate new tools and systems.
  • Compliance and Security: work with the Director of IT to implement cybersecurity measures to protect project applications, data, and systems.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Experience, Education, and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, information technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction management, project management, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes and technology applications in the construction industry.
  • Excellent project management skills to oversee multiple technology projects from initiation to completion. Ability to manage resources, budgets, timelines, and risks effectively.
  • Proficient in data analysis and the use of analytics tools.
  • Excellent communication and training skills.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must have reliable transportation to the workplace(s)/ job location(s).
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check related to driving (for any driver)
  • Ability to pass drug screening.
  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and in the future.

Preferred Experience, Education, and Qualifications
Advanced degrees or certifications in construction technology, project management, or IT are a plus.
Proven experience with construction technology platforms, such as BIM, project management software, and IoT.
Strong leadership and team management abilities.

Work Environment/Physical Demand
This position will work in office and job site environments. Frequent travel, including overnight stays, is required, and it requires extended periods of sitting and standing.

Position type and expected hours of work.
This is a full-time office/field position. Typical hours will range from 45-50 hours per week and are subject to change. This role requires working nontypical days and irregular hours based on construction schedules. Due to the critical nature of the role, accepting phone calls even during nontypical workdays and hours is also necessary.

Travel
This position requires frequent travel, including to office locations, job sites, and off-site meetings, which are subject to change.
